The Negri Foundation was created at Brescia on the 6th of December, 1993, in order to promote the photographic heritage that has been accumulated in more than a century of activity by the Negri Studio, the work of the photographers, Giovanni Negri, Umberto Negri, Constantino Squassoni and Mauro Squassoni.
The Negri Foundation office and its considerable archives of more than 100,00 images on their original large format glass negatives are housed in the original site of the Negri Studio, a splendid villa at N°7, Via Calatafimi at Brescia, which was built in1909 to plans from the architect, Egidio Dabbeni.

The Negri Foundation O.N.L.U.S.
The Negri Foundation O.N.L.U.S. was founded in 1993 with the object of launching a project for safe-keeping, creating catalogues and making widely available an historically important photographic collection, made up of tens of thousands of images that had been produced by the Negri photographic studio, an activity that is at present continued by the fourth generation in a family of professional photographers.
The construction of a digital image archive and of a database with access via the internet was initiated in order to make a unique iconographic heritage freely available to students. The project releases valuable material concerning social and economic history, particularly for the study of changing aspects of the environment to the urban and country landscapes in the province of Brescia over the course of the 20th century.
The statutes of the Negri Foundation also envisage initiatives of co-operation and support for archives that belong to companies, public offices or private collectors. The Negri experience of collecting, conserving and organising catalogues of photo collections is now available to help other concerned parties with the object of preventing the loss or degradation of historic photographic material, as this last is always a valuable support in the search for understanding history, especially that of local industry and culture.
The Negri Foundation O.N.L.U.S. was created in order to facilitate safe-keeping, catalogue establishment and making freely available an historically important photographic heritage, consisting of tens of thousands of images produced by the Negri Studio.
