In a photo from about 1908 a passenger steamship is seen leaving the gulf waters. At the Serraglio in the bottom left hand corner is a hotel built by an Austrian, Rudolf Lignet. It was subsequently demolished by the "Cavaliere," Giovan Battista Bianchi.
